Lakewood School District is hiring dedicated individuals to serve as crossing guards. One of the great things about this opportunity is the flexibility to work an AM shift, PM shift, or both, depending on your availability and the needs of the district.

AM Shift:

Monday-Friday, 7-7:30 a.m.

PM Shift:

Monday-Thursday, 2:05-2:35 p.m.

PM Shift:

Friday, 12:35-1:05 p.m.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Be present at assigned crossing locations during designated work hours. Assist students and other pedestrians in safely crossing streets at designated crosswalks in accordance with district procedures, applicable laws, and established safety practices. Use district-issued personal protective equipment and approved crossing equipment, including a high-visibility vest and stop paddle, in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and district procedures. Observe approaching traffic and assist pedestrians in determining when it is safe to cross.

• Instruct and encourage students to use safe pedestrian practices, including using designated crosswalks and obeying traffic control devices. Maintain visual awareness of traffic, pedestrians, cyclists, and roadway conditions while performing assigned duties. Report hazardous roadway conditions, malfunctioning traffic control devices, near misses, collisions, suspicious activity, injuries, or other safety concerns to the appropriate district administrator or law enforcement agency. Maintain professional, courteous, and respectful interactions with students, families, staff, motorists, and community members. Attend required meetings and successfully complete required training. Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance. Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students (e.g., accidents, fights, inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions, homelessness, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate administrative personnel. Responds to emergency situations (e.g., injured student, disruptions, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution. Performs related duties as assigned.

$23.76 - $31.20 per hour Expected hours: 5.0 per week
