SUMMARY:
The Summer Weight Room Coordinator is responsible to train and prepare student-athletes for meaningful competition through instruction in the fundamental skills, strategies and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Demonstrates knowledge of all Quincy School District policies, procedures, and expectations regarding student supervision, facility use, equipment management, safety, and conduct. Plans, organizes, and supervises the morning weight room program in a manner that promotes student participation, safety, and positive development. Provides instruction and guidance in proper strength training techniques, conditioning activities, injury prevention, and safe use of weight room equipment. Ensures all students utilize equipment safely and appropriately and maintains active supervision of participants at all times. Develops and implements age-appropriate strength and conditioning activities that support student wellness, athletic development, and individual fitness goals. Establishes and maintains a positive, inclusive, and welcoming environment that encourages participation by students of all ability levels. Monitors student behavior and maintains discipline consistent with district policies and expectations. Maintains accurate attendance records and participation data as required by the district. Conducts regular inspections of weight room equipment and facilities and promptly reports maintenance, repair, or safety concerns to the appropriate district personnel. Maintains an organized, clean, and safe weight room environment and ensures equipment is properly stored after use. Collaborates with coaches, building administrators, and athletic department personnel to support student development and promote consistent training expectations. Ensures compliance with district safety procedures, emergency response protocols, concussion awareness requirements, and injury reporting procedures. Utilizes district-approved communication platforms to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and administrators. Serves as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, leadership, sportsmanship, and ethical conduct. Maintains all required certifications and completes district-required trainings. Ensures compliance with Title IX, equity standards, and district non-discrimination policies. Performs related duties and responsibilities consistent with the scope and purpose of the position. Opens, supervises, and secures the weight room facility during designated morning hours and ensures students enter and exit the facility in accordance with district procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or G.E.D. required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of strength training, conditioning principles, injury prevention, and safe operation of weight training equipment. Demonstrated ability to teach proper lifting techniques and supervise student-athletes in a weight room environment. Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and supervisory skills. Valid current First Aid/CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain prior to the start of assignment). Ability to develop and implement age-appropriate strength and conditioning activities for high school students. Ability to maintain a safe, organized, and positive training environment. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, coaches, and community members. Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, administrators, and other district personnel. Ability to perform all duties in accordance with applicable Board policies, district policies, and legal requirements. Ability to meet punctuality and attendance expectations, including early morning work schedules. Ability to supervise students effectively and maintain appropriate standards of behavior and safety. Previous experience supervising or coaching students in a strength training, fitness, or athletic setting preferred. Bilingual preferred.
