This individual will work closely with operational leaders and frontline employees to capture current processes, identify best practices, and create clear, consistent, and professional documentation that can be used for training, compliance, and operational consistency. This poistion is in a face paced distribution warehouse. We are looking for a candidate comfortable spending time on the floor and not just a technical writer sitting at a desk. The ideal canddidate will need to be able to shadow selectors, loaders, receivers, inventory control, transportation dispatchers, and supervisors, ask questions, and accurately capture what actually happens versus what is supposed to happen. That operational curiosity is often more important than advanced writing skills. We expect that the job will last around 3 months. Duties Develop, edit, and maintain comprehensive SOP documents using industry-standard documentation tools and software. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather detailed process information through research, interviews, and technical interpretation. Create visually engaging process diagrams and flowcharts utilizing graphic design software such as Visio to enhance clarity. Ensure all documentation aligns with organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices in technical writing. Manage content within content management systems (CMS) for easy retrieval and version control. Proofread and review SOPs for accuracy, consistency, grammar, and technical correctness before publication. Support training initiatives by providing clear, concise documentation tailored for technical audiences. Incorporate feedback from stakeholders using Agile methodologies to refine documents iteratively. Maintain a repository of all SOPs with proper categorization and access controls to facilitate quick retrieval. Key Responsibilities Develop and document SOPs, work instructions, process maps, and training materials for all operational functions. Observe and interview employees, supervisors, and managers to understand current workflows and operational practices. Translate complex operational processes into clear, easy-to-follow documentation. Create standardized document templates and maintain formatting consistency across all SOPs. Organize and maintain a centralized SOP library and version control process. Partner with warehouse, transportation, inventory control, safety, and administrative teams to ensure documentation accuracy. Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and improve existing processes. Ensure documentation aligns with company policies, safety requirements, and operational standards. Assist with onboarding and training material development as needed. Support continuous improvement initiatives by documenting best practices and process changes. Required Qualifications Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including: Word Excel PowerPoint Teams SharePoint OneDrive Excellent written communication and technical writing skills. Strong attention to detail and document formatting abilities. Ability to organize large amounts of information into structured, professional documents. Self-starter capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Strong interviewing and information-gathering skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Preferred Qualifications Experience in warehouse, logistics, distribution, transportation, or supply chain operations. Experience writing SOPs, work instructions, training guides, or process documentation. Experience with process mapping tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, or similar platforms. Familiarity with WMS, TMS, inventory management systems, and operational workflows. Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, or operational excellence principles. Experience supporting change management and process standardization initiatives.
