On-Site/On-Premises Required Tenure:
Full-time Job Description Seeking an experienced Technical Writer to develop, maintain, and update Technical Orders (T.O.s), Technical Manuals, and defense/federal technical documentation in support of Air Force programs. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with technical documentation, assembly/testing, test equipment, wiring, and applicable MIL-STD standards. Required Qualifications 5+ years of professional experience writing, maintaining, and updating Technical Orders (T.O.s), Technical Manuals, or defense/federal technical documentation, with a Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, or a related discipline. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word for long-document management and expert-level skills with technical illustration software. Deep knowledge of
MIL-STD-40051 , MIL-STD-40051-1 , SAE S1000D
, DoD documentation requirements, and Air Force Technical Order standards, including
TO 1-1-4
. Strong experience developing maintenance, inspection, assembly, disassembly, and test procedures, as well as troubleshooting guides. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to create clear, accurate, step-by-step technical instructions. Hands-on experience with assembly and testing , test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers, and wiring . Working knowledge of applicable MIL-STD standards and defense technical data requirements. Demonstrated experience with Configuration Management , including CDRL delivery management, Technical Order baselines, Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and document version control. Experience supporting digital publication formats and technical documentation accessibility standards. Secret clearance eligibility or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance. Ability and willingness to work 100% on-site at Hill AFB .
