This role is ideal for:
1.an experienced PM who can serve as the primary client point of contact and manage delivery end-to-end, or 2.a technically strong engineer who is ready to step into project management responsibilities with support, mentorship, and clear path to full PM ownership. In addition to core PM duties (scope/schedule/budget/client), this position includes technical delivery leadership-driving the technical approach, coordinating across disciplines, and ensuring deliverables are high quality and "right the first time." These technical leadership elements align with CDM Smith's internal PTL (project technical leader) expectations. Water-sector experience will be considered on an individual basis, but experience in the following bullets is preferred.- Develop, review, and approve basic to moderately complex engineering designs for: Water and wastewater treatment facilities, Water and sewer systems, Pipelines and Pump station engineering
- Ensure all project designs comply with state, and local regulations.
- Apply firm policies, procedures, and best practices across all engineering deliverables.
- Conduct site visits, field reviews, and technical studies to verify design requirements and site-specific conditions.
- Update project design criteria as needed throughout project development.
- Contribute to CDM Smith's technical leadership by preparing and submitting technical papers, abstracts, and conference presentations.
- Collaborate with sales and client service teams to prepare proposals in response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
- Meet with current and prospective clients to understand and support their evolving design and project needs.
- Completing Quality Assurance/Quality Control of key deliverables.
- Represent CDM Smith at conferences and professional symposia to enhance visibility and foster client relationships.
- Building and maintaining positive working relationships with key decision makers in our clients' organizations.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to junior staff; delegate tasks effectively and support staff development within the discipline.
- Professional engineering (PE) license, with ability to immediately gain comity in NM
- Experience supporting or managing municipal water/wastewater clients and multidisciplinary project teams
