A successful candidate for the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager, with limited supervision, will perform complex environmental, health, and safety program tasks to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations for Kirkwood's main and outlying campuses by developing and overseeing initiatives for environmental, health, and safety compliance and risk reduction. The typical work schedule will be Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.UNIVERSAL CORE COMPETENCIES

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee Kirkwood's EHS department and programs including, but not limited to, Hazard Communication, waste management, air emission compliance, and PPE Work with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure compliance Update and write standard operating protocols (SOPs), policies, and guides Serve as Kirkwood's Respiratory Protection Program Administrator, Hearing Conservation Program Administrator, Chemical Hygiene Officer, and Waste Compliance Officer Coordinate safety asset (eyewash stations, safety showers, fire extinguishers, emergency lights, and AEDs) and fume hood inspections Oversee EHS department spending and process invoices Work with the Risk Management department on safety walkthroughs Perform other related work duties as assignedPERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Be knowledgeable of and maintain Federal, State, and local safety compliance for a variety of programs (industrial tech, chemistry, health programs, art/theatre, and more) Stay informed of current and proposed safety regulations Requires organizational skills, good communication skills, and attention to detail Self-motivated Customer service oriented Wear respiratory protection and other PPE as needed Move barrels and handle hazardous materials and waste Within 6 months of hire become certified in: HAZWOPER, DOT, andOSHA-511

Position involves a combination of working in an office setting and light to medium work. Position involves exerting up to 10-50 pounds of force occasionally (10-33%). Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing. Position may require the use of a various respiratory protection devices, incumbent will be required to obtain a medical clearance and subsequent fit test for respirators. Incumbent must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific discipline and 3-5 years of EHS work; or education/experience combination equivalent Good interpersonal relationship skills Good communication skills Proficiency in various office and spreadsheet software including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ability to learn other software programs Valid Driver License with a good driving record and ability to be covered through the College's insurance This position requires a valid driver's license and participation in continuous Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) monitoring. Your driving record will be verified initially and monitored on an ongoing basis as a condition of employment.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS
