Job Description
General Sanitarian - Environmental Health 570 North Marshall Road, Coldwater, MI 49036 $26.77 an hour - Full-time $26.77 an hour - Full-time Sanitarians work under the supervision of the Environmental Health Supervisor and perform the on-site inspections at commercial, residential, or public locations in the district to determine conformity with federal, state and county sanitation and environmental health laws to safeguard the public health. They also provide consultation to the general public on environmental health and sanitation issues. Sanitarians are required to maintain records of activities and prepare related reports. The successful applicant will be performing on-site inspections of private wells, septic systems, campgrounds, body art facilities, investigating nuisance complaints and may participate in the inspection of public swimming pools and food establishments if needed. Sanitarians must provide their own reliable transportation.
Employment Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in environmental health or related field is required.Experience & Required Skills:
- Must be able to work independently as well as with other staff and clients.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills necessary to effectively communicate with the Supervisor, and the public.
- Computer skills necessary to effectively utilize word processing, spreadsheet, and EH software systems.
- Ability to handle simultaneous projects requiring concentration and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to deal with difficult people in a firm but professional manner.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
