An Environmental Compliance Specialist performs environmental audits and advises companies on compliance with state, local and federal environmental regulations. Investigates company waste disposal, industrial hygiene and pesticide use practices and policies, advises on compliance issues and reports violations as needed.
In the role of Professional I, you will apply your expertise in geology, hydrogeology, engineering, or another professional field. This role involves a diverse set of tasks that range from data collection to data management, culminating in data interpretation and providing conclusions and recommendations. Professional I roles demand proficiency and autonomy to manage responsibilities critical for project success across various project types. Work requires periodic oversight and review by a higher-level professional. Advancement to Professional II is a potential progression.
Key Responsibilities:
Independently execute assignments using NTS standard operating procedures and a broad knowledge and understanding of the principles of the respective profession. Develop a comprehensive understanding of applicable regulatory guidelines influencing professional recommendations and judgments. Assist senior staff in implementing advanced procedures, actively participating in planning to achieve project objectives. Engage in complex tasks such as technical analysis, solution development, and report writing spanning a variety of project types. Collaborate with various roles within the organization, providing support, expertise, and bridging gaps between different professional responsibilities. Be a leader in improving our culture of quality and safety. Participate in a minimum of 40 hours per year of external training and/or professional development related to your area of expertise, aligning with a professional development plan. Attend networking events, conferences, community or charity organizations, professional organizations, and/or industry-specific organizations to stay informed about developments in your field and in NTS's market. Meet or exceed an annual utilization target. Perform other duties as assigned or necessary, adapting to the dynamic nature of professional responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, geology, hydrogeology, or another relevant scientific field. Strong analytical judgment, excellent attention to detail, and effective written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities. Demonstrated ability to write comprehensive, high-quality technical reports. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and bridge gaps between different professional disciplines. Strong desire for continuous learning and professional growth.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in engineering, geology, hydrogeology, or another relevant scientific field. 1 - 3 years of relevant work experience. Demonstrated pursuit of licensure where applicable. Experience using software tools related to design, analysis, and modeling such as CAD, GIS, gINT, and MODFLOW.
