Immediately Job Description General Definition of Work The Section 504 and Homebound Programs Specialist, under general supervision, performs complex work with limited decision-making discretion providing consultative and compliance support for Section 504 and Homebound programs, ensuring programs are supported across schools, departments, and the community. Employee performs district-level work to carry-out Board of Education policies under the direction of the Executive Director of Student Services. Salary/Status Certified Schedule/ Full-time, 12 months Reports To Executive Director of Exceptional Children Place of Work The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time. Essential Functions Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures Support Section 504 teams to develop quality academic, mental health, and behavioral programs through consultation and problem solving Assist with training related to compliance, quality of plans, and technical platforms used for documentation Collaborate with the Section 504 Program Manager to provide technical and compliance support to schools Review Section 504 documents for accuracy, quality, and compliance Audit and monitor student documentation as maintained by schools for federal compliance and report data to federal and state agencies Provide technical assistance with and support for electronic platforms utilized for recording Section 504 data Develop and support effective processes to improve data collection and reporting Review and audit manifestation determination reviews for compliance Manage the school-based segment of the homebound process including collaboration with healthcare agencies Create and deliver professional development for school-based Section 504 liaisons and coordinators based on legal requirements, as well as immediate and ongoing needs Coordinate, process, and distribute student referrals to other CMS departments such as state testing, nursing, transportation, and related services Represent Section 504 programs at school, department, and community events/meetings Coordinate with the CMS legal department and district learning community administration on grievances/hearings, Office for Civil Rights (OCR) complaints, and school board placement hearings Support technical platforms used in Section 504 programs such as Success Ed (SE504) and PowerSchool Respond to department-specific questions regarding operations or general inquiries using ticketing systems Provide intermittent support for vacancies of school-level staff Perform related work as assigned or required
