Job Description
Job Summary The Director of Environmental Sustainability is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing, strategies to minimize Zeus' environmental footprint while ensuring long-term profitability and compliance with regulations. This key role serves as a bridge between a company's operational activities and its broader environmental, social, and governance (ESG)/Sustainability objectives. Bachelor's or master's degree in science (Environmental Science or Engineering preferred) and 10+ years' experience in manufacturing, with preferred experience with plastics extrusion or medical device industries. 5 years at corporate level or multi-location environmental program management for manufacturing operations. Evidence of professional environmental training certification & credentials. Capability to drive organizational change and motivate employees at all levels, in building a culture of sustainability. Ability to process complex data and translate it into actionable strategic recommendations. Strong verbal and written skills to present technical information clearly to various audiences, to include internal stakeholders, customer and regulatory authorities. Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing long-term projects within budget and an ability to adapt to new technology changes including the optimal use of AI. Deep understanding of GHG Protocol, renewable energy technologies, and life cycle assessments (LCA). Experience with voluntary disclosure bodies, to include SBTi, EcoVadis and CDP. Identify, design and execute comprehensive environmental strategies, goals, policies and action plans that align with the company's overall sustainability strategy. Prepare, execute and control annual budgets for the environmental department to also include the management of team members and their development. Track and analyze performance indicators such as energy and water consumption, waste reduction, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Identify, monitor and ensure adherence to local, national, and international applicable environmental laws and identify potential environmental risks, to include the use of chemicals and associated risks as an example. Prepare periodic internal and external environmental sustainability reports within identified frameworks such as, EQT parent reporting, SBTi, EcoVadis and CDP. Collaborate across facilities with departments leads in Supply chain, Finance, Innovation and HR to embed eco-friendly practices into daily operations. Act as the primary contact for all internal staff, customer and external partners, regulatory bodies, and community groups regarding environmental sustainability initiatives. Identify & lead educational workshops for the department team members and internal training/programs to foster a culture of environmental responsibility among employees.
