Onsite About the Role We are seeking a Senior Principal Engineer to lead the environmental program at a major manufacturing site in Radford, VA. This position will manage the Environmental Group within the Safety, Health & Environmental organization and report directly to the Safety, Health & Environmental Director. The successful candidate will provide leadership for environmental compliance activities and manage a team of approximately 5 Environmental Engineers supporting air, solid waste, and water compliance. Key Responsibilities Manage and provide leadership to a team of Environmental Engineers. Own and oversee the site's environmental compliance program. Manage compliance activities related to air, solid waste, and water/wastewater . Serve as the primary liaison between the site and applicable government/regulatory agencies. Represent the site regarding environmental compliance with the surrounding community. Monitor changing environmental regulations and requirements. Ensure environmental compliance reports are completed, reviewed, and approved on schedule. Participate in cross-functional teams to resolve environmental compliance issues. Serve as the environmental subject matter expert for facility modification (MOD) projects. Support environmental permitting and regulatory activities. Develop and manage the environmental budget. Identify potential compliance risks and proactively address them before they impact site operations. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field . Minimum 5 years of professional experience in a related environmental field. Demonstrated experience managing people and projects . Strong understanding of environmental regulatory compliance. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with internal leadership, cross-functional teams, and regulatory agencies. Ability to work onsite in Radford, VA . Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Environmental Science or a related discipline. 8+ years of applicable environmental experience . Wastewater/water compliance experience. Environmental permit writing experience. Experience working with government agencies or government clients. Government environmental compliance experience. Experience with air and/or solid waste compliance. Experience supporting environmental requirements for manufacturing or facility modification projects.
