FIRE CHIEF
(GS-0081-12), you will serve as the Fire Chief responsible for the overall management and supervision of the fire protection/crash rescue and fire prevention program for the base. Requirements Help Conditions of employment Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigion. May be required to successfully complete a two year trial period. Participion in direct deposit is mandory. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty stion on military or commercial aircraft. Incumbent may work a minimum 56 or 60-hour week with supervisor's approval. Required to participe in a physical fitness program and pass an annual physical. Incumbent is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week unless TDY or on leave. This position meets criteria for secondary/administrive coverage under special retirement coverage provisions in th it requires prior experience in a primary or equivalent outside experience as a prerequisite. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: Must have least 36 months experience, educion, or training in one or more of the following areas: (1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade. (2) Rescue operions. (3) Detection, reduction, or eliminion of potential fire hazards. (4) Operion of fire communicions equipment. (5) Controlling hazardous merials incidents. (6) Developing, implementing, or providing training in fire protection and prevention (7) Firefighting and fire prevention theory and techniques; (8) Fixed and mobile firefighting equipment operion. (9) Planning, directing, or carrying out fire protection and prevention programs and operions and/or (10) Performing emergency medical services. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel. ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
The maximum entry age for DoD firefighters is 37. An individual not appointed by the last day of the month in which the individual becomes age 37 will not be originally appointed or assigned to these positions. Employees in positions, involving firefighting duties or other duties involving arduous physical exertion, may be subject to periodic (e.g., annual) medical examinions following appointment to determine fitness for continued performance of the duties of the position. The employee is subject to random drug testing. Pre-employment drug testing and participion in random drug testing may be a condition of employment when on the job announcement. Drug testing will only occur once a drug free workplace policy has been established and approved by the United Stes Department of Health and Human Services.
