Duties Help Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the Fire Protection Flight. Develops goals and objectives th integre organizion and Civil Engineering objectives. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Directs, coordines, and overseeswork through subordine supervisors. Represents the Fire Protection Flight with a variety of installion and functional area organizions. Assumes full charge crashes, fire, or emergency situions, directing activities and personnel, transmitting instructions to Assistant Chiefs on the scene or other personnel as to the procedures to be followed. Determines need, budgets for, and recommends acquisition of additional and/or different fire protection, firefighting, and specialized rescue equipment, contract services, formal training, etc.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES
Must be able to obtain and maintain the approprie security clearance of the position. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty stion on military or commercial aircraft. Irregular and/or overtime (compensory) hours may be required to support operional requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. Must be certified by the DOD Fire Fighter Certificion system as Fire Officer IV (includes Fire Officer
I, II, III
), Fire Instructor II (includes Fire Instructor I), Fire Inspector II (includes Fire Inspector I), HAZMAT Incident Commander (includes Hazm Awareness, Hazm Operions), and Airport Firefighter (includes Firefighter I, II). Required to participe in a physical fitness program and pass an annual physical. Incumbent is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week unless TDY or on leave.

Special Retirement Coverage is effective retroactive to the de of the personnel action of this SCPD. This position meets criteria for secondary/administrive coverage under special retirement coverage provisions in th it requires prior experience in a primary or equivalent outside experience as a prerequisite. This position is designed as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparion for, or in response to, a ste emergency or disaster declarion. This designion will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigion. May be required to successfully complete a probionary period. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Qualificions
GENERAL EXPERIENCE
: Work experience or military service th demonstred the ability to follow directions and to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulions, and procedures and th otherwise demonstres the ability to perform or learn to perform the duties of the position. To qualify for this position, your resume must reflect sufficient experience and/or educion to perform the duties of the position for which you are applying. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: To qualify for the GS-12 level, you must have least 1 year equivalent to least the next lower grade level (GS-11). Experience th demonstred the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position. Such duties may include controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade; rescue operions; detection, reduction, or eliminion of potential fire hazards; operion of fire communicions equipment; controlling hazardous merials incidents and/or developing, implementing, or providing training in fire protection and prevention. 2-3 years' experience opering in a combinion department with Air Nional Guard and Ste employees. Experience opering a Federal Aviion Administrion (FAA) controlled Index C airport with Air Nional Guard, Army Nional Guard, Commercial Carrier, prive aviion, and corporely owned aircraft. Experience opering in Security Identificion Display Area (SIDA) badge required areas under the supervision of the Transportion Security Administrion (TSA). Familiarity with Mutual Aid with municipal and county departments. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through Nional Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizions (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience th transles directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
