Fire & Life Safety Inspection Technician 2 Openings | Palo Alto, CA & Bay Area | On-Site Leading Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with contracts nationwide and multiple offices across the US seeks two (2) experienced technicians to support fire alarm and fire sprinkler/fire suppression system inspection and testing at VA medical facilities in Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and Livermore, CA. HurtVet specializes in fire protection, life safety, and physical security services for numerous federal agencies. In This Role You Will Perform scheduled inspection and testing of fire alarm systems, and fire sprinkler/fire suppression systems, across VA facilities in the Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and Livermore area (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual, depending on the system and device) Complete and submit clear, accurate, and timely digital inspection reports, deficiency lists, and device inventories through the contract's required reporting software Develop site-specific knowledge of each facility's fire alarm panel systems (Simplex, Notifier, and Edwards/EST platforms) and NFPA/Joint Commission compliance standards Primary Tasks & ResponsibilitiesFire Alarm Systems (Inspection & Testing) Perform testing of fire alarm components per NFPA 72 requirements, including: supervisory devices and batteries; water flow and tamper switches and signal devices; duct smoke detectors, smoke detectors, manual pull stations, heat detectors, horns/bells/chimes/strobes, emergency paging systems, control equipment Verify proper operation of connected life-safety equipment during testing, such as elevator recall, HVAC/duct smoke detector shutdown, magnetic hold-open and door release devices, and kitchen hood suppression alarm activation Maintain device inventories verifying existing equipment and logging any new devices added at a facility Fire Suppression / Sprinkler Systems (Inspection & Testing) Perform quarterly, semi-annual, and annual inspection and testing of fire sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA 25, to include fire pump tests and main drain tests on all risers; tamper switches and water flow devices; and Fire Department Connection (FDC) inspections Inspect alarm valves and associated strainers, filters, and check valves during scheduled tests to confirm proper operation and condition General Accurately complete and submit deficiency reports and device inventories within the reporting timeframes required Coordinate scheduling and site access with Customer or Customer Representative Work with project managers and office staff to ensure proper job handoff and documentation so that work can be invoiced in a timely manner Serve as the primary onsite representative of HurtVet with top-tier professionalism and customer service Travel routinely between VA facilities in Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and Livermore as needed; inventory and maintain tools, materials, and equipment in good order Meet responsibilities to the client, fellow local support staff, and HurtVet by showing up on time, ready to work, and representing the company with pride Perform other responsibilities and duties associated with this position as may be appropriate Required Skills and Qualifications Broad general technical / mechanical background NICET Level II certification (Fire Alarm) Working knowledge of NFPA 72 (fire alarm systems), NFPA 25 (water-based fire protection/sprinkler systems), NFPA 101 (life safety), and NFPA 99 (health care facilities) inspection and testing requirements Demonstrated history of reliability and professionalism in a client-facing environment Team player and self-starter who can work independently with minimal oversight to a recurring inspection and testing schedule Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfort using digital reporting software and MS Office applications Physical ability to climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs without reasonable accommodation, and navigate mechanical rooms and construction areas unaided. Regular bending, reaching, climbing, and walking required Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record; ability to travel routinely between facilities in Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and Livermore, CA Must be able to pass the site-required personnel vetting/background investigation (per
