Job Description
The City of Vacaville invites applications for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic II
- Lateral.
Compensation:
$131,451- $188,025/annually
- The minimum salary listed includes base pay, holiday pay, EMT pay, and education & uniform allowances.
Compensation and Other Benefits:
Educational Incentive- 2.5% for Associate's Degree and 5% for Bachelor's Degree Holiday Pay
- 3.38% Senior Firefighter Program
- 2.5-11% (depends on qualifications) Bilingual Premium
- 2.5% per pay period Clothing Allowance
- $1,800/year Tuition Reimbursement
- $2,200/year Generous contributions to medical, dental and vision plans Generous vacation accruals Participation in CalPERS Retirement System Vacaville Firefighter/Paramedics currently work a 48/96 shift schedule, resulting in an average workweek of 56 hours.
The ideal candidate will be:
A team player who has empathy toward the community and coworkers and possesses a high level of emotional intelligence; A professional firefighter paramedic who can quickly assimilate into a high-performing all-risk emergency response team; A field-proven, paramedic-level EMS provider with a track record of competent and compassionate patient care; Well versed in modern fire service practices; and Knowledgeable in fire science and prehospital medical care.Qualifications Education:
Certification of successful completion of California State Fire Marshal approved Firefighter I training (or equivalent) curriculum is required. College-level coursework in fire science is desirable.Experience:
One year paid full-time professional experience as a Firefighter/Paramedic in an all-risk fire department that provides services similar to those of the City of Vacaville is required. Two or more years experience is desirable.License and Certificate Requirements:
Possession of current, valid California Paramedic License Possession of California State Fire Marshal Firefighter 1 (or reciprocity). Possession of California State Fire Marshal Firefighter 2 (or reciprocity) is desirable Possession of a California driver's license, Class B or C, with a Firefighter Endorsement or better Possession of a current, v alid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) card issued in accordance with the guidelines of the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Possession of a Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification (PALS) or Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professional certification (PEPP) Possession of a Prehospital Trauma Life Support certification (PHTLS) or Basic Trauma Life Support/International Trauma Life Support certification (BTLS/ITLS) Possession of California State Fire Marshal Rescue Systems 1 Certification is desirable Possession of California State Fire Marshal Driver/Operator 1A Certification is desirable This recruitment is open and continuous and may close at any time.
