Job Description
The Town of York, a coastal community comprised of the villages of Cape Neddick, York Harbor, York Village and York Beach, is accepting applications for the position of Firefighter in the York Beach Fire Department. The Town has a year-round population of 12,500 but regularly increases to 40,000 during the peak summer season. The position is responsible for both areas of Advanced Emergency Medicine and Firefighting. The incumbent performs technical work providing advanced emergency medical services for patients who experience medical problems in the field and combating, extinguishing, and preventing fires, in answering emergency calls, and in operating and maintaining Fire Rescue Department equipment, apparatus, and quarters. Work is performed under the direction of the Fire Chief or designee. High School Diploma or equivalent, Firefighter I and II certifications required. Advanced EMT or Paramedic License preferred with Basic EMT License required with achievement of EMT-A within 18 months of service. A Maine Commercial Drivers License (CDL) or ability to obtain a CDL within 6 months of hire required. Prior experience desirable. The position is non-exempt, union, working a 42 hour per week, on average, schedule including nights, weekends and holidays. Starting salary dependent upon EMT License Level.
