Job Description

BRIEF DESCRIPTION
The Firefighter/EMT-Basic shall be a sworn firefighting position. Upon acceptance of this position the selected applicant shall pass an
NFPA 1583
physical and will be required to pass this physical annually along with passing the required annual physical assessments. The Firefighter/EMT-Basic will be assigned to a shift and station. While on shift they will be expected to continue training, respond to emergencies, complete apparatus and facility checks, keep equipment stocked and maintained, and all other duties assigned by their designated Captain. The Firefighter/EMT-Basic shall also be the driver operator during the shift and will have to operate a variety of firefighting apparatus as assigned. The Firefighter/EMT-Basic shall assist with public relations and all other assigned tasks by the Fire Chief or designee. This position will work a 48 hour on duty/96 hour off duty schedule. Employee must perform all duties with minimal supervision. This position is subject to the 7K Fire Exemption under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Employee may be required to work irregular hours, attend job related meetings both in and out of town, and perform all other duties as assigned.
