Job Description

Job Overview The District:
Jefferson Fire District covers 86 square miles in Marion and Linn Counties. We have a population of 9,300 permanent residents that live within the City of Jefferson and rural communities. We responded to over 1,300 emergencies in 2025. Services provided are ALS ambulance, Firefighting including structural, wildland and vehicle fires, hazardous material response, and swift water rescue. We are hiring 2 full-time firefighter/paramedic and establishing a hiring list. Currently we have two firefighter/paramedics per shift with a part-time EMT or paramedic. We staff one ambulance with a full-time firefighter/paramedic and a part-time EMT or paramedic. The second firefighter/paramedic staffs the second out ambulance, fire engine, or appropriate apparatus for the call. Jefferson Fire has a jet boat and raft providing water rescue in southern Marion County from the Willamette River to Detroit Lake. Applications and qualifications will be reviewed on September 4th , an assessment center will be conducted on September 10th , with a tentative start date October 1st.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Licensed Oregon Paramedic or Currently enrolled in a Paramedic Program o Employment contingent upon ability to obtain within 1 year of hire.
  • ACLS and CPR Certification
  • NFPA Firefighter 1
  • NFPA Driver or EVOC certification
  • NFPA Hazardous Materials Operations
  • Wildland Interface Firefighter Type 2
NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800
  • Pass District Background Check
  • Oregon driver's license with acceptable driving record, insurable by districts insurance company
  • Pass pre-employment physical and drug test
  • Crews work a 24/48 hour schedule
Desired Qualifications:
  • NFPA Pumper/Operator Equipped with a pump
  • Previous EMT, firefighting, and/or apparatus operator experience
NFPA Firefighter II Pay:
$56,490.50 - $68,664.55 per year
