Job Description

Join our team as a Lateral Firefighter/EMT! This position responds to fire, medical and hazardous materials emergencies throughout the County, providing emergency medical assistance, basic life support care, fire suppression and rescue services. Responsibilities also include operating fire equipment, assisting with hazardous materials incidents, inspecting and maintaining fire apparatus, ambulances and emergency equipment, participating in ongoing firefighting, medical, rescue and physical fitness training, completing required records and reports, conducting pre-incident planning and on-site inspections, and providing public education in CPR and fire prevention. This position is considered essential personnel and may involve work under emergency conditions and considerable personal hazard.
Qualifications:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some fire suppression and emergency medical experience or successful completion of designated recruit training. Must possess an appropriate driver's license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia and have the ability to pass physical requirements following the
NFPA 1582
standard.
