Perform a variety of secretarial and administrative functions, sometimes of a confidential nature, for a General Magistrate serving in the Family Law Division.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE:
Two years of related work experience.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or GED and two years of college or vocational school education in paralegal, secretarial skills, computer operations, or a closely related field.
SUBSTITUTION
Additional relevant experience may substitute for the recommended educational level on a year-for-year basis. Additional relevant education may substitute for the recommended experience on a year for-year basis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Answer and direct phone calls. Communicate with attorneys and pro se litigants regarding court procedures. Open, sort and distribute mail. Handle the coordination and scheduling of post-judgment Family Law hearings, excluding Title IV-D child support issues. Maintain filing and calendaring systems for the General Magistrate. Prepare correspondence, memoranda, travel requests, etc. for submission and approval. Upload recommended orders to JAWS for the Uniform Family Court Judge's signature. Compile monthly hearing data, prepare and submit child support hearing officer monthly Uniform Data Reporting to the Administrative Office of the Courts. Maintain the dockets, notes and recusal list for the General Magistrate. Order office supplies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of and ability to use Word application. Knowledge of the rules of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Ability to interact effectively with the general public. Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning sensitive information. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently. Ability to establish work priorities. Incumbent must be professional in all regards.
