As a member of the case management team, the Case Administrator manages the progression of bankruptcy cases and related proceedings from opening to final disposition. The Case Administrator performs case related docketing and other administrative tasks, monitors the completion of the required procedural steps, provides courtroom services (electronic court recording and relief courtroom deputy) and is the primary public customer service contact for the court. This position is located in the U.S. Courthouse in Seattle, Washington. This position may require reporting to the divisional office in Tacoma, Washington on occasion. Representative Duties Manage bankruptcy cases in the court's case management/electronic case filing (CM/ECF) system. Docket filings, orders, and judgements. Maintain official case records. Review data entered and make corrections as needed to comply with national and local rules and procedures. Provide court services support, including operating recording equipment, setting hearings and notifying parties, administering oaths, preparing standard forms and orders for the judge's consideration, reviewing filing summaries to support chambers' workflow preferences, and ensuring required statistical data is accurately entered in CM/ECF. Serve as backup courtroom deputy which includes preparing the courtroom for hearings, attending, logging, and recording court proceedings, conducting and troubleshooting court hearings by video and telephone using platforms such as Zoom and Teams, and courtroom management. Maintains and processes case information and manages the progression of cases to final disposition in accordance with approved internal controls, procedures, and rules. Reviews documents to determine conformity with federal and local rules, ensures all orders and entries are appropriately and accurately docketed, and makes summary entries on the docket of all documents and proceedings. Provides procedural information and customer service, cashier duties, noticing, data quality control, and mail processing. Performs various tasks related to the maintenance of court records such as scanning, filing, and data entry. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications To be qualified for appointment to the position of Case Administrator candidates must meet the following standards: A high school diploma or equivalent and two years of general clerical work experience. Education above the high school level may be substituted for required general experience. At least one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience is defined as progressively responsible clerical or administrative experience requiring the regular and recurring application of clerical procedures that demonstrate the ability to apply a body of rules, regulations, directives, or laws and involve the routine use of specialized terminology. This experience is commonly found in law firms, legal counsel offices, banking and credit firms, educational institutions, insurance companies, corporate headquarters or human resources/payroll operations. Strong team player with a proven track record of collaborative, productive, and goal-driven work. Adaptable and flexible to changing priorities. Professional appearance, demeanor, and conduct appropriate for a court environment. Exhibit the highest standards of excellence, integrity, and customer service. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Associate's degree or paralegal certification. Bankruptcy knowledge, court experience, or experience in a legal environment. Experience with the court's case management system (CM/ECF), Zoom and Teams videoconferencing and digital recording.
