Job Description

Experienced Family Law Associate Attorney Chariot Law (formerly The Law Office of Emily A. Jones, LLC) is a woman-owned law firm specializing in family law and criminal defense. We have an immediate opening for a full-time, experienced Associate Attorney. Our firm is actively growing, and we are looking for someone who wants to grow with us. This is an ideal opportunity for a driven attorney who has developed a strong foundation in family law and is ready to invest in the next stage of their career. We are interested in someone who wants to become an integral part of the firm, take on increasing leadership and management responsibilities, and ultimately pursue a path toward partnership or ownership. We focus on providing compassionate and client-focused representation, with the highest standard of excellence inside and outside of the courtroom. To accomplish this, we believe it is important that every member of our team can focus not only on their career, but on their life outside of the office. Happy attorneys mean happy clients, so we ensure our attorneys and support staff are always treated with the utmost respect and encouraged to maintain a healthy work/life balance. You're not expected to work nights, weekends, vacations, or holidays. Ever. Period. The position is full-time, in-person at our Greenwood Village office. Because this role involves high-conflict litigation, significant client interaction, regular court appearances, and close collaboration with our team, this is an in-person position. We are a modern family law firm that takes the work seriously without making the practice of law harder than it needs to be. We are fully digital, highly organized, and intentional about using technology and strong systems to cut down on inefficiency, improve communication, and keep our attorneys focused on practicing law rather than fighting outdated processes. You will manage your own family law caseload from intake through resolution, develop case strategy, advise clients, negotiate settlements, conduct discovery, draft pleadings and agreements, and appear regularly in court. You will be trusted to take ownership of your cases, exercise sound judgment, and advocate confidently for your clients. We are looking for an attorney who already knows family law and wants to become excellent at it. Someone who is driven, capable, responsive, and comfortable handling difficult cases and difficult conversations. Just as importantly, we want someone who wants to be part of a strong team and build something over the long term.
Responsibilities:
Manage a caseload of family law matters from initial consultation through final resolution. Develop and implement case strategy based on each client's goals, the facts of the case, and applicable law. Advise clients regarding legal options, risks, settlement strategy, and litigation decisions. Prepare for and handle hearings, status conferences, mediations, depositions, and trials. Appear in court and advocate effectively on behalf of clients in contested family law matters. Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery, settlement agreements, parenting plans, and other legal documents. Conduct discovery, analyze financial and other case-related information, and work with experts when appropriate. Maintain organized, accurate, and current case files and ensure deadlines and procedural requirements are met. Communicate regularly with clients and provide clear, responsive, and practical guidance throughout their cases. Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and other members of the firm to move cases efficiently toward resolution.
Qualifications:
JD from an accredited law school. Applicants must reside in the state of Colorado and be a licensed attorney in the state of Colorado. 3-5 years of prior family law experience, with demonstrated competency in courtroom litigation and settlement negotiations. Public Defender or District Attorney experience is highly desired, although not required.
