DESCRIPTION

The duties and responsibilities of the Judicial Clerk I include performing a variety of specialized administrative, secretarial, and clerical tasks. Work involves displaying professionalism, initiative, organizational skills, and a strong work ethic. Frequent working contacts are made with judges, attorneys, unrepresented parties, and the general public. Work is often of a sensitive and confidential nature. Work requires independent judgment and is performed under the general supervision of a Judge of Compensation Claims.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Schedule and calendar live, telephone, and zoom hearings and other JCC events. Review legal pleadings. Generate orders for JCC review. Generate notices of legal proceedings. Communicate with parties regarding scheduling, deficiencies in pleadings, and information requested by the JCC. Review exhibits to provide to the District Court of Appeal. Maintain a system to track and monitor deadlines. Generate reports regarding case and hearing information. Proofread evidentiary orders drafted by the JCC and suggest possible style or grammatical corrections.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs; Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment; Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and Ability to organize work and effectively manage one's time.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess a high school diploma or the equivalent.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in a legal setting is preferred. Strong communication, reading, writing, and organizational skills. Attention to detail, reliability, and punctuality.

BACKGROUND

Successful completion of Level 2 background screening is required for all positions with the Division of Administrative Hearings.
