Job Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant State's Attorney to join our legal team. Responsibilities Prosecute criminal cases in court, including preliminary hearings, trials, and sentencing proceedings Conduct legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case preparation and legal arguments Draft legal documents including motions, pleadings, contracts, and court depositions with precision and clarity Prepare for trial by organizing evidence, developing case strategies, and coordinating with law enforcement agencies Negotiate plea agreements with defense attorneys to achieve just outcomes for victims and the community Provide legal counsel to law enforcement officers and other stakeholders on criminal procedures and statutory laws Manage a caseload efficiently using legal case management systems while maintaining detailed records of proceedings Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; admission to the IL state bar is required Demonstrated experience in general litigation, criminal prosecution, or related legal fields such as family law, employment law, or personal injury law Strong knowledge of procedural law, statutory research methods, and courtroom procedures Proficiency in legal research platforms like LexisNexis and Westlaw Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to advocate effectively in court Experience with contract drafting, trial preparation, legal motion filing, and court depositions Familiarity with specialized areas such as estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, tribal law & regulations, securities law, workers' compensation law, patent law, or employment law is a plus Join us if you are eager to make a meaningful impact through diligent advocacy and comprehensive legal expertise.
