Taylor Law Firm, PLLC | Detroit, Michigan Part-Time | $24-$28/hour, commensurate with experience Taylor Law Firm, PLLC is seeking a motivated law student or recent law-school graduate to join our Detroit office as a Law Clerk. Our boutique litigation practice focuses primarily on family law and criminal defense, with select real estate matters. This position is ideal for a law student who wants meaningful, hands-on experience with real cases, substantive legal writing, litigation strategy, and courtroom practice. Why Join Taylor Law Firm? Law clerks work closely with attorneys on active matters and gain experience in legal research and writing, motion practice, discovery, case strategy, client interaction, and trial preparation. Depending on case needs and scheduling, clerks may also have opportunities to attend court proceedings, depositions, mediations, client meetings, and trials. We are looking for someone who wants to strengthen their legal writing, develop practical litigation skills, and gain an inside view of how a boutique law practice manages cases from intake through resolution. What You'll Do Conduct legal research and prepare clear, well-supported written analysis. Draft motions, briefs, pleadings, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents. Review and analyze discovery, financial records, police reports, court records, and other evidence. Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, trials, depositions, mediations, and client meetings. Prepare case chronologies, witness outlines, exhibit lists, and litigation materials. Assist with case strategy and development. Maintain organized case materials and accurately update assignments and case information in Clio. Attend court proceedings and other case-related events when appropriate. Who We're Looking For Applicants should be current law students or recent law-school graduates with: Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills. Excellent attention to detail and proofreading ability. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Professional written and verbal communication skills. Reliability, responsiveness, and a willingness to learn. The ability to accept feedback and apply it to future assignments. An interest in litigation and developing practical lawyering skills. Prior legal experience is preferred but not required. Experience with a law firm, prosecutor's office, public defender, court, legal clinic, judicial internship, or other legal setting is a plus. Experience with family law, criminal defense, litigation, Michigan courts, electronic filing, or Clio is helpful but not required. Schedule This is a part-time position. We understand the demands of law school and are willing to work with the successful candidate to develop a schedule that accommodates classes and academic obligations. Compensation $24-$28 per hour, commensurate with experience, year in law school, and demonstrated legal research and writing ability.
