JOB SUMMARY
Riis Settlement is looking to hire a part-time Emergency Grants Associate Temp. If you are passionate about helping individuals and families in need and are looking to expand your experience in a community-based nonprofit organization, this is a great opportunity for you. This position offers flexible, part-time hours, reporting directly to the Associate Executive Director of External Affairs. In this role, you will be working with case managers, funders, and be the main point of contact for emergency grants in the organization, managing two grants that are used specifically for emergency grant cases.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Major Duties and Responsibilities Reports to the Associate Executive Director of External Affairs. Works with case managers to coordinate emergency grants for clients and participants. Communicate with staff members, those who refer cases/clients, funders, and others as needed. Review, analyze, and submit the cases for funder and/or management review/approval. Follow the guidelines to dictate how to move forward and keep track of cases efficiently. Data entry and updating tracking sheets: Conduct case follow ups, document outcomes, conduct data entry on the funder's platforms, and more. Communicate with the finance team when needed to request checks, confirm if funds have been received from the funders, review bank statements, and more. Attend events, trainings, and meetings organized by the funders of the emergency grants.
STATEMENT OF SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES
Associates or Bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, public affairs, or equivalent preferred but not required. Passionate about helping clients in need. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate efficiently with the staff, funders, etc. Basic math skills. Ability to be flexible and easily adapt to changes, and new tasks. Must be an independent and team oriented, detail oriented and analytical problem solver. Proficiency in using Microsoft Outlook. Tech savviness and ability to learn new platforms highly desired. Strong organizational, analytical, and prioritization skills. Ability to have strong time-management skills and persistence in completing tasks. Strong interpersonal skills.
Temporary role:
Starting around November 1, 2026 until June 30, 2027
