Job Description

The Assistant Chief is the Chief of Polices primary officer, providing continuity and high-level management for the entire department. The Assistant Chief of Police will assist the Chief of Police with planning, implementation, evaluation and management of all security and safely aspects of the University. The individual provides administrative, supervisory, and hands-on responsibility for safety and security and will ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, regulations and reporting. This position works in collaboration with campus leaders and community law enforcement partners to ensure policy application to higher education principles with a focus on a holistic approach to public safety, student success, wellness and respect for diversity. Work is reviewed by the Chief of Police through regular meetings, reports. and annual performance appraisals. The Assistant Chief of Police will assume command of the Police Department in the absence of the Chief of Police.
