$25.86 per hour

Position Summary:

This position performs police work involving the protection of life and property, the enforcement of laws, and the investigation of crime.

Essential Functions:

An incumbent in this position may be give special duty assignments. Performs various law enforcement tasks for the patrol division, evaluates and deciphers emergency and non-emergency calls. Enforces motor vehicle laws, directs traffic. Investigates crimes, interviews witnesses, reviews and prepares reports. Provides escorts to prisoners and during funeral processions. Issues court subpoenas, executes warrants for arrest/search, and executes court orders. Investigates missing person reports, animal complaints and maintains crowd control.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent, P.O.S.T. certification as a Law Enforcement Officer. Vocational or technical school training in criminal justice, law enforcement or closely related area. A minimum of one year experience in law enforcement or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license and attend regular training in addition to holding required certifications as deemed necessary by the Sheriff and state regulations.
