The Town of Bladensburg — a historic, culturally diverse community in Prince George's County, minutes from Washington, D.C. — is seeking a strategic, community-minded law enforcement executive to lead its Police Department as Chief of Police. WHAT YOU'LL DO
Direct all Police Department operations — enforcement, crime prevention, and protection of life and property Set strategic direction and right-size the department to meet current and future needs while ensuring long-term financial sustainability Lead, mentor, and hold accountable a team of sworn and civilian personnel Build the department's budget and manage resources effectively under real fiscal constraints Use data and analytics to drive deployment, policy, and performance decisions Serve as a visible, trusted partner to the Mayor, Town Council, residents, and regional law enforcement agencies
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Bachelor's degree (Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or related field) and 10+ years of progressive law enforcement/management experience, including 3+ years in a Command Staff role — master's degree or executive leadership training preferred Current knowledge of Maryland law enforcement legislation, including the Maryland Police Accountability Act A track record of strategic thinking, operational efficiency, and community-focused leadership Maryland Police Officer certification (or eligibility) and Supervisor Training Certification
