The Teton County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for a full-time Deputy Sheriff position; the starting wage is $27.37/hr. After a year of successful employment, the rate of pay is DOE. Sheriff Deputy duties and responsibilities include performing the duties of a Deputy Sheriff as prescribed by Montana State statute. This includes, but is not limited to, responding to calls from citizens for service in a variety of law enforcement assignments. Handle stressful circumstances in all situations, in all types of weather, and work all hours. Perform quality, detailed work; communicate effectively with others; and be physically fit to handle job hazards, including apprehending suspects and investigating crimes as needed. There will be unforeseen circumstances that will require a deputy to work solo. This position requires the applicant to pass a medical and psychological evaluation. Applicants will be able to obey rules, regulations, and follow the instructions from supervisors. Applicants must show a desire to work with the public to solve problems, show strong self-motivation, and demonstrate the highest degree of integrity, maturity, and confidentiality. Computer skills are a must, as is the ability to adapt to changing technology. A long-term commitment to living and serving the citizens of Teton County is desired.
