ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION AND INCENTIVES
: Tuition reimbursement for up to 6 hours per semester to attend classes at Texas Southern University. Minimum passing grade of "C" and the ability to maintain a GPA of 2.0 is required for reimbursement.

  • (10 years or more) Total police experience (excluding corrections, armed security, military police) Essential Duties Summary Enforces policies and procedures.
Manages a shift of police and security officers to make sure that students, faculty and staff are safe. Supervises, schedules, assigns work, and evaluates the performance of law enforcement personnel assigned to shift or area. Provides in-field instruction, training, and counseling to subordinates. Conducts shift "roll call", provides daily briefing sessions regarding criminal activity, special assignments, and events. Inspects uniforms, equipment, buildings, and vehicles. Prepares, reviews, and distributes various reports on incidents, operations, and other activities. Coordinates responses to calls, conducts preliminary investigations of incidents, and protects crime scenes. Interviews or supervises the interviews of suspects, witnesses, and victims. Provides general service, courtesy escorts, information, and assistance to faculty, staff, students, and visitors on campus. Identifies hot zones for criminal activity and high-volume pedestrian travel and develop a plan for proactive police patrol presence. Serves as a departmental representative or liaison to internal and external groups, as designated. As a supervisor, you may be required to work beyond your regular scheduled shift. 35 Education Sixty-college credit/Associate degree. Along with three (3) years' experience as a commissioned officer with Texas Southern University Police Department, or a total of seven (7) years combined law enforcement experience or four (4) years' experience of supervisor experience in law enforcement as a substitute for the sixty-college credit hours. Bachelor's degree preferred. Required Licensing/Certification Licensed as a Texas peace officer through the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. Intermediate peace officer certification (TCOLE). Valid Texas Driver's License. Field Training Officer Certification (FTO) Auto Insurance No Criminal Charges Shift work varies Able to obtain security clearance Making a Pivotal decision
