DESCRIPTION

The Criminal Apprehension Unit of the Criminal Investigations Bureau is currently accepting applications from sworn personnel to develop an eligibility list for anticipated and future openings. Officers interested in this position must have a minimum of two years of experience as a sworn police officer and not be in a probationary status prior to the close of application. The applicant will be selected based upon final ranking, unit priority, and availability of openings. The mission of the Criminal Apprehension Unit is to support the Investigations and Field Operations Divisions in apprehending wanted suspects. The unit provides support in locating investigative leads and persons of interest during investigations. Additionally, the unit coordinates warrant details, surveillance operations, gathers intelligence, and engages in crime suppression efforts. Detectives in the unit are also required to attend regular training sessions and maintain key proficiencies. Applicants should possess good writing and investigative skills. Applicants will be required to become certified and authorized as a patrol rifle operator. The position has a 4-10 schedule, Tue-Friday 0900-1900, 5% specialty pay, clothing allowance, and overtime pay as required. Applicants must be prepared for a flexible schedule, to include working late and odd hours with short notice. Successful applicants will be required to sign a waiver to alter MOU Article 4, Section 4-1. The testing process will consist of a practical exercise and an oral board interview." An eligibility list will be established and will be effective for one year. If the testing process takes place outside the employee's normal work hours, employees may coordinate with immediate supervisors to flex time to attend their interview.
