VICE PRESIDENT OF SECURITY/CHIEF SECURITY GENERAL SUMMARY

The VP of Security will direct the Security Department in protecting the people, property, and assets of the organization. Ensures a safe and secure property for guests, tribal members, and team members across the entire reservation.

CORE SCOPE OF POSITION

Develops and implements strategies appropriate to the area of the property. Provides law enforcement for the Tribal Member residential areas; provides law enforcement and a level of guest service consistent with our rating standards to guests of the Resort; and provides a safe working environment for Team Members. Directs the staffing, supervision, and training of all Security personnel including technical, compliance as well as guest service. Ensures that all applicable federal, state, local, and organizational laws and rules and regulations are enforced, including those related to the prevention of crime, traffic, and parking regulations. Maximizes available resources to protect and ensure guests are safe, secure and feel comfortable while anywhere on property. Develops emergency and contingency plans for tribal members, guests, team members, and the company property; oversees the development of training programs to communicate the plans to tribal team members and team members. Oversees all investigations performed by Security Department; reviews all incidents and related reports involving guests and/or team members to determine whether safety precautions were overlooked; makes recommendations for changes/improvements as needed. Develops the partnerships, relationships, and communication channels necessary to position the department to achieve business results and effectively respond to problems or emergencies. Develops those partnerships, relationships, and communication channels at all levels of the organization including Senior Management, and with internal and external agencies including the Gaming Commission, Viejas Fire Department, Federal, State, County and City officials. Directs the budget planning process, adheres to budget, monitors performance against budget and makes changes based on business priorities. Acts with discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive material; required to sign and adhere to a Confidentiality Agreement. Ensures that a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment is maintained. Adheres to all company and department policies, procedures, and standard operating guidelines Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

Must be 21 years of age or older. High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree related to Criminal Justice, Political Science, Public Administration, or Business Administration preferred. Possess a valid driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.

EXPERIENCE 10

years related experience with a regulatory or law enforcement agency, military or private security firm managing a staff of 150 or more or a combination of education/experience.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Must be able to communicate with all levels of management including Senior Management. Ability to work in a professional high-pressure environment while demonstrating and maintaining good personal relation/people skills and a positive attitude. Ability to multitask and work well under stress. Must be a self-starter and able to adjust to change. Must be able to work flexible hours during the day or evening including weekends, holidays, and all blackout dates.
