Police Reserve Officers support sworn and professional staff of the Gardena Police Department in public safety operations, patrol support, traffic control, report preparation, and community policing activities in accordance with California POST standards.
Applicants must: Be at least 21 years of age Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D Meet all California POST Reserve Officer requirements Successfully complete a POST-certified Reserve Academy or Possess a Basic POST Certificate Possess and maintain a valid California Class C Driver License. Reserve Officers are classified as Level III, II, or I based on POST training and assignment requirements. Knowledge & Abilities Applicants should demonstrate professionalism, integrity, sound judgment, strong communication skills, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively with the public and department personnel. Physical Requirements Applicants must meet California POST medical and physical standards, including acceptable vision, hearing, physical fitness, and the ability to safely perform law enforcement-related duties. Special Conditions Appointment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation and applicable POST requirements. Reserve Officers serve at the discretion of the Chief of Police.
