Position Details:

Salary Range:

$24.26 - $30.99 hourly + Excellent Benefits 3% Cost of Living Adjustment increase effective 7/13/27 Generally, salary placement is at the beginning of the salary range. Advanced placement may be granted depending on related education and experience.

NOTE :

The City recently completed a compensation study comparing its salary ranges with those of other local agencies. As a result, 87% of salary ranges will be adjusted upward at various intervals. As ranges are adjusted, job postings will be updated to reflect these changes.

Bilingual Stipend:

$50.00/month. This position is designated as bilingual, and the candidate must be fluent in Spanish or another foreign language to be eligible for selection. A language proficiency test will be administered to verify fluency.

Regular Schedule:

4/10 (4 10-hour shifts) typically working Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday. May require occasional work on weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Training:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in criminal justice, police forensics, or a related field.

Police Services Officer Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will possess: Strong customer service and communication skills, Ability to stay professional and calm in routine and high‑stress situations. Excellent attention to detail when writing reports, issuing citations, and documenting information. Good judgment and awareness when responding to collisions, emergencies, and calls for service. Ability to learn and use law enforcement systems such as records management, CAD, and Live Scan. Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment. Integrity and discretion when working with confidential or sensitive information. Ability to collaborate with sworn officers, professional staff, and outside agencies. Ability to perform fieldwork such as parking enforcement, traffic control, equipment setup, and vehicle abatement.
