Job Description

This position performs traffic enforcement police work through the enforcement of traffic laws and ordinances in the community. A considerable amount of independent judgment is used; under the supervision of a superior officer. •
MUST BE CERTIFIED IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA AS A POLICE OFFICER
•The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Performs traffic enforcement police work through the enforcement of traffic laws and ordinances out in the field.? Assists in towing, placement, and set up of equipment such as speed trailers and message boards. Responds to rescue calls as required and renders medical aid and emergency assistance as necessary. Enforces laws and ordinances of the City, County, and State. Makes arrests and processes prisoners. Gives depositions and court testimonies. Operates and maintains police vehicles and equipment as required, to include motorized vehicles, firearms, radio transmitters, fire extinguisher, protective equipment, fingerprint equipment, and computers. Performs any other police related duties as ordered by the Chief of Police in exigent circumstances. Performs other related duties as assigned. High school or equivalent required. Associate's degree preferred. Must be a US citizen and be at least 21 years of age. Must be certified in the State of Florida as a Police Officer. Valid Florida Driver's License. Must have 20 years of prior law enforcement experience. Experience in a traffic enforcement unit is preferred. A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
