Job Description

Job Summary:
The Police Officer is responsible for protecting life and property, enforcing laws and ordinances, maintaining public order, and preventing crime within the city. This position requires a strong commitment to community policing, public service, and upholding the rights and safety of residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Patrol assigned areas by vehicle or on foot to deter and detect criminal activity. Respond promptly to calls for service, including emergencies, disturbances, traffic accidents, and public assistance. Investigate crimes and incidents, gather evidence, and prepare reports. Enforce local, state, and federal laws and ordinances. Issue citations and make arrests as necessary. Testify in court proceedings. Engage with the community to build trust and foster positive relationships. Assist with special events, traffic control, and emergency response efforts. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
Minimum Qualifications:
U.S. Citizen At least 21 years of age High school diploma or GED Valid driver's license (Idaho license by date of hire) No felony convictions or disqualifying misdemeanors Ability to pass a background check, written test, polygraph evaluation, and medical/physical fitness exam
