National Testing Network The Rolling Meadows Police Department believes that the public must have confidence, trust, and faith in the ability of every Rolling Meadows Police Officer to competently perform their duties. To accomplish the hiring of the best persons that meet this statement of excellence, candidates will be required to successfully complete a series of tests and meet minimum requirements. Do you have what it takes? Hiring Process 1.Application and Written Exam:
Submit your application through GovernmentJobs.com and complete the exam through National Testing Network (NTN) which is due at time of application submittal. Applicants must attain a passing score of at least 70.00% on the written examination in order to continue with the entry level appointment process.- NTN requires a fee to take the exam.
One Way Interview:
Applicants who pass the written exam must also complete a one-way video interview throughNTN. 3. RMPD
Ride Along:
Applicants who pass the written test and video interview portion will schedule a ride along with the Rolling Meadows Police Department. 4.Board of Fire and Police Commissioners Interview:
The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners (BFPC) will conduct an oral interview with those applicants that have passed the previous portion of the hiring process. a passing score of at least 70.00% on the oral interview is required to be placed on the Final Eligibility Register. Performs responsible law enforcement and community policing duties to protect life and property, enforce laws and ordinances, and maintain public safety. Responds to calls for service, conducts investigations, makes arrests, issues citations, collects evidence, prepares reports, and appears in court as required. Provides visible patrol and targeted traffic enforcement, assists the public, and addresses community concerns through collaborative problem-solving and crime prevention initiatives. Builds and maintains partnerships with residents, businesses, and community groups while participating in training, departmental programs, and special assignments. Maintains compliance with Department and City policies, professional standards, and safety requirements, and performs additional duties as assigned.Competencies:
Observe situations analytically and objectively and to record them clearly and completely; React quickly and calmly in emergencies; Express oneself clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; Ability to handle situations firmly, courteously, tactfully and impartially; Develop skills in the use of firearms and other defensive tools/tactics; Safely operate motor vehicles in both routine and emergency operations; Exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions; Perform tasks requiring good physical condition and strength; Elementary skill in the application of modern police practices and techniques involving investigation, arrest, detention and treatment of prisoners; and in the care and use of appropriate tools, equipment and facilities.Minimum Qualifications Citizenship:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and legally permitted to possess firearms in accordance with state and federal lawDriver's License:
