Job Description
The City of Fredonia is currently accepting applications for a full-time Police Officer. Our department operates on 12-hour shifts (84 hours per pay period), with every other weekend off. Officers must be willing and available to work holidays, nights, and weekends as scheduled. The Fredonia Police Department promotes a family-oriented culture and strives to accommodate personal scheduling conflicts when possible—provided required hours are met and staffing levels allow. Once certified, officers will have opportunities to attend specialized training that supports the department's mission and goals. Fredonia is a close-knit community of approximately 2,100 residents located in southeast Kansas, about 90 miles from four major metropolitan areas. Compensation
Entry-Level Officers:
Starting wage is approximately $17.00/hour, with increases following successful graduation from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC) and completion of a 90-day post-academy probationary period.Lateral Entry Officers:
Starting wage ranges from $18.00 to $22.00/hour, based on experience and qualifications.Out-of-State Certified Officers:
