Responsibilities Conduct patrols on foot or in standard passenger vehicles to monitor neighborhoods, public spaces, and high-traffic areas for suspicious activity or violations of laws and ordinances. Respond promptly to emergency calls, accidents, disturbances, and reports of criminal activity, providing immediate assistance and support. Investigate incidents by gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses and suspects, and preparing detailed reports in accordance with procedural law and criminal investigation standards. Enforce traffic laws through traffic stops, issuing citations or warnings, and managing accident scenes with professionalism. Apply arrest procedures while adhering to legal standards such as search and seizure law and use of force protocols; ensure proper documentation of all actions taken. Utilize surveillance techniques and conduct searches as necessary during investigations or security operations. Engage in conflict management and de-escalation tactics to resolve disputes safely while maintaining community trust. Maintain physical conditioning through regular training; operate firearms safely in accordance with law enforcement training standards. Assist with animal handling when necessary during patrols or investigations; understand local ordinances related to animal control. Support community outreach efforts by educating residents on safety practices, crime prevention, and local laws including immigration law where applicable. Experience Prior experience in law enforcement or military service is highly desirable; demonstrated knowledge of criminal law, procedural law, evidence law, and criminal investigation techniques is preferred. Proven ability to operate standard passenger vehicles safely under various conditions; valid driver's license required. Training or certification in CPR and first aid protocols; experience with fire arms handling in law enforcement settings is advantageous. Strong report writing skills with attention to detail; ability to document incidents clearly and accurately. Physical conditioning capable of meeting the demands of patrol duties including standing, walking long distances, and performing physically strenuous tasks. Knowledge of traffic laws, local ordinances, search and seizure law, criminal procedure, and loss prevention practices enhances effectiveness on the job. Experience managing conflict situations with professionalism; familiarity with surveillance technology and evidence collection methods is beneficial.
