Job Description

Job Summary The City of Brunswick, Missouri, is accepting applications for employment in its Police Department and municipal code enforcement functions. The City is currently seeking qualified applicants for part-time and/or full-time employment. Depending upon the qualifications of applicants and the needs of the City, one or more individuals may be selected for employment. Applicants may be considered for Police Officer, Code Enforcement Officer, or both, depending upon their qualifications, experience, and the City's staffing needs. POLICE OFFICER-Duties may include patrol, responding to calls for service, traffic enforcement, criminal and ordinance enforcement, investigations, report writing, community relations, and other duties assigned by the City. Current Missouri POST certification/licensure is required. Applicants must meet all applicable Missouri statutory and POST requirements for appointment as a police officer. Prior law-enforcement experience is preferred.
CODE ENFORCEMENT
OFFICER-Duties may include investigating complaints, conducting property inspections, documenting violations, enforcing City ordinances and applicable codes, communicating with property owners and residents, maintaining records, issuing notices, and other duties assigned by the City. Prior code-enforcement, municipal, inspection, property maintenance, construction, or law-enforcement experience is preferred. POST certification is not required for the Code Enforcement position. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS-Applicants must : Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid driver's license, demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills, be dependable and able to work independently, be able to deal professionally and respectfully with the public, attend court for cases when/if necessary, successfully complete any background investigation and other employment screening applicable to the position, meet all qualifications required by Missouri law for the particular position. Police Officer applicants must satisfy all applicable Missouri requirements for appointment as a peace officer, including applicable age and POST requirements.
