Overview The Police Officer serves as a vital member of the law enforcement community, dedicated to maintaining public safety and enforcing laws within the jurisdiction. This role requires a commitment to protecting citizens, preventing crime, and responding to emergencies. Officers are expected to uphold the law with integrity, professionalism, and respect for all individuals. Duties Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect criminal activity. Respond promptly to calls for service, including emergencies and non-emergencies. Conduct investigations of crimes, accidents, and incidents; gather evidence and prepare detailed reports. Enforce traffic laws and regulations; issue citations as necessary. Engage with the community to foster positive relationships and promote public safety initiatives. Manage conflict situations effectively, utilizing de-escalation techniques when appropriate. Provide first aid and emergency assistance as needed. Participate in training programs to enhance skills in law enforcement practices, surveillance techniques, and animal handling. Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and community organizations on crime prevention strategies. Skills Proficient in law enforcement practices and procedures. Excellent conflict management abilities to handle various situations calmly and effectively. Ability to operate police vehicles safely under various conditions. Familiarity with surveillance equipment and techniques for monitoring criminal activity. Demonstrated leadership qualities; ability to guide peers during critical incidents or operations. Requirements Must be a Citizen of the United States and Missouri resident at time of appointment. Certification as a police officer of Missouri class A or B Post License current and in good standing. Must be a high school graduate (or G.E.D.), at least 21 yrs of age, and hold a valid Missouri driver's license. Must submit references and be able to successfully complete a pre employment background check. No felony or domestic violence convictions. Looking for someone with good character, independent judgment in emergencies. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work proactively and constructively with the local community.
