Duties and Responsibilities:

Protect life, property, and public safety within the community Maintain law and order Enforce laws and ordinances Conduct criminal and traffic investigations Identify, detain and arrest individuals violating the law Testify in municipal proceedings as required Maintain accurate and detailed records Foster positive relationships with community members, businesses and partner agencies Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain and improve required certifications and skills

Qualifications/Requirements:

U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old Valid Montana driver's license or ability to obtain one Good driving record Good physical condition (must pass the Montana Physical Abilities Test) Good moral character High School Diploma or recognized equivalent Montana P.O.S.T. certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire Ability to legally possess a firearm No felony convictions or disqualifying misdemeanors Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to write detailed reports and testify in court Skills in deescalating hostile or volatile situations Ability to handle stressful situations effectively Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays Proficiency in computer systems and related technology Ability to perform the essential functions of the position

Note:

Employment is contingent upon passing a criminal background check, physical/drug screening, Montana Physical Abilities Test (MPAT), a one-year probationary period, and obtaining Montana P.O.S.T. Certification. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Salary and Benefits:

Starting wage: $26.55/hour without Montana P.O.S.T. certification Wage increases to $27.55/hour upon obtaining Montana P.O.S.T. certification Comprehensive medical benefits Paid vacation, sick leave, comp time, and holiday pay 20-year retirement plan Representation by The Teamsters Union, America's largest union
