06/03/2026 Under direct or general supervision, a Police Officer Trainee performs a variety of non-sworn law enforcement duties and attends basic law enforcement training (BLET) in preparation for employment as a Police Officer I with the Lexington Police Department . Upon graduation of BLET and completion of all NC state law enforcement requirements will perform responsible work as Police Officer I to provide for public safety by maintaining order, responding to emergencies, protecting people and property, enforcing motor vehicle and criminal laws, and promoting good community relations. This is not a sworn position. This is an FLSA non-exempt 7(k) position. Check out the great benefits the City has to offer. Minimum Qualifications

• Education equivalent to graduation from high school and current enrollment in Basic Law Enforcement Training.
• Valid NC driver's license and good driving record;
• Minimum age of 20 years.

Work Schedule Primarily Monday - Friday 8:00 am -6:00 pm during BLET. Following BLET; rotating upon graduation. Paid bi-weekly. Closing Date Application and instructions are available here .
