A Law Enforcement Officer enforces jurisdictional laws, maintains public safety, and protects property and people in the community. Patrols neighborhoods, responds to emergency calls and crime scenes, watches for traffic and driving violations. Authorized to arrest criminals; prepares cases and testifies in court.
JOB The school resource deputy sheriff ensures law and order through the enforcement of applicable federal codes, state laws, and local ordinances primarily on the school campus and adjacent properties. The resource deputy works to prevent juvenile delinquency by working closely with school administration and conducts frequent high visible foot patrols of the school buildings and campus. The school resource deputy routinely assesses potential threats to the safety of students during school and all school related activities.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Responds to calls from the public reporting crimes and requesting assistance on campus and at adjacent properties. Ensures law and order through the enforcement of applicable federal codes, state laws, and local ordinances. Conducts initial investigations; Patrols county as assigned; provides community patrols and assistance based upon assignments. Mediates disputes; Performs negotiations to resolve conflict. Documents activity through report writing in accordance with Office policy. Conducts searches of property and persons in accordance with the 4th Amendment and case law. Drives safely at high speeds. Testifies in court. Communicates with attorneys, prosecutors, judges, victims, and witnesses. Prepares cases for criminal prosecution. Conducts traffic stops and assists other officers in the performance of their jobs Assists department with temporary assignments in the courts, school resources, community crimes, civil process, and court security. Performs other related job duties as assigned.
