Job Description

Position Overview The Northumberland Police Department is seeking a dedicated and professional Full-Time Patrol Officer to join our team and serve the community of Northumberland, New Hampshire. As a small but dedicated department committed to providing exceptional law enforcement services, you will play a vital role in creating a safe community through crime detection, crime reduction, and crime prevention while building strong relationships with our residents. This is a unique opportunity to help shape and build a department from the ground up, influence policies, and have a direct impact on the future of policing in our town. Primary Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned areas to detect, prevent, and respond to criminal activity
  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service
  • Conduct traffic enforcement and accident investigations
  • Prepare incident reports and maintain accurate documentation
  • Interact professionally with community members and support community-oriented policing initiatives
  • Assist with traffic control and public safety events
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Police Chief Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Pass a background investigation, medical examination, and psychological evaluation
  • U.S. citizen at least 21 years of age
  • Vision and hearing correctable to acceptable standards Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous law enforcement experience
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
