HIRING NOTICE POLICE OFFICER CITY OF HERMITAGE
The City of Hermitage is accepting applications through Pennsylvania CareerLink @ Mercer County for the position of police officer. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a citizen of the United States. Must be of good character and habits. Must pass a physical examination and police officer selection test given at Pennsylvania CareerLink @ Mercer County. Must be age 21 before the deadline for submitting applications. Must be a high school graduate or equivalency certification. Must have the current Pennsylvania Act 120 certification and a valid Pennsylvania or Ohio driver's license, depending on residency.
EMPLOYMENT BENEFITS
$66,723 starting annual base compensation and $90,609 top annual base compensation (12-hour work schedule) with additional annual contractual increases. Generous paid leave includes vacation, personal days, sick leave, and holidays. Defined benefit pension plan with post-retirement healthcare benefits available. $800 annual uniform/equipment payment. 12-hr patrol work schedule, every other weekend (3 days) off with alternating 3-day and 4-day workweeks. Healthcare opt-out option available with reimbursement worth $3,322 to $13,704 depending on coverage. Officers can reside anywhere in Mercer County and in parts of Lawrence County and eastern Ohio. The City of Hermitage is a growing, third class, home rule city consisting of over 30 square miles, approximately 17,000 residents and a top-rated public school system. The department consists of 31 full-time officers including criminal investigators, corporals, sergeants, deputy chiefs and chief of police and civilian support staff. The department has 2 school resource officers, an excellent police station facility, vehicles and equipment. The department regularly provides specialized officer training opportunities, and several officers have graduated from the FBI National Academy.
