Job Description

Code Enforcement Officer New Garden Township, Chester County, PA, is seeking a full-time Code Enforcement Officer. The successful applicant must possess above average project management, clerical, and communication skills, with the ability to multitask on several projects at once and provide excellent customer service, outreach, and education to the community. Duties include but are not limited to site inspections of residential and commercial structures/properties for compliance with Township ordinances and property maintenance codes, investigate complaints, communicate with property owners, and follow-up/close investigations. Appearances in Municipal Court may be required. A valid PA driver's license is required. Position requires a considerable amount of technical fieldwork with some administrative duties. This position reports directly to the Director of Community Development and Safety and coordinates closely with the current Code Enforcement and Fire Marshal officials with respect to active case management collaboration. Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, with at least 5 years of professional experience and/or training is required.
  • Associate degree, with at least 3 years of professional experience and/or training is preferred.
  • Prior municipal code enforcement experience is highly desired.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) speaking ability is highly desirable.
  • Prior military or law enforcement service considered a plus.
