Campus Police Job Description Summary:
To protect life and property and enforce the laws of the Commonwealth as well as the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of William & Mary in such a manner as to create an environment conducive to the educational mission of William & Mary.

Required for
Police Officer I:
High School graduate or equivalent. Ability to successfully complete a specified law enforcement training program within 1 year of hire. Valid Division of Motor Vehicles operator's license. Ability to obtain and maintain certification in CPR and First Aid. Must be 21 years of age and a U.S. Citizen. Required for
Police Officer II:
(the above plus) Currently certified by the Criminal Justice Basic Police Academy.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree or higher in criminal justice or related discipline. Current Virginia law enforcement certification or law enforcement certification from another state. Prior employment with a campus law enforcement agency.
Conditions of Employment:
Completion of the Criminal Justice Basic Police Academy or completed within one year of hire. Must be able to pass a comprehensive background investigation which includes reference checks, fingerprinting, sex offender registry, and check DMV driving records. Must be able to pass physical agility examination, psychological evaluation, drug screening and medical examination. Ability to successfully complete a specified law enforcement training program within 1 year of hire. Valid Division of Motor Vehicles operator's license. Ability to perform essential physical requirements of the job to include during inclement weather conditions. Rotating shifts with holidays and weekend duty will be required. Ability to obtain and maintain certification in CPR and First Aid. This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor. Must be at least 21 years of age and a U.S. Citizen.
Salary:
$54,000
- 61,000, commensurate with experience.
Sign-On Bonus:
$5,000
- half at hire, half after 1 year of satisfactory employment.
