There are approximately 2500 year-round residents with an abundance of visitors during our warm months. The City Council and Staff work together to create excellent working conditions and generous benefits. We aspire to be an eclectic and relaxed community centered around the livability of residents and families while welcoming visitors. As a full-service Municipal Government, we aim to preserve the quality of life, protect the environment and accommodate the visitors. Currently, our Public Safety Department is accepting applications for the position of Full Time Police Officers. Successful applicants will be required to pass a physical psychological test polygraph test extensive background check South Carolina LE1 certified candidates preferred. Officers certified in other states are also encouraged to apply. Other qualification requirements include the following: must have attained the age of 21 possession of a high school diploma or GED US Citizenship no convictions for domestic batteries or any crimes that include the use of a firearm. The City offers a full benefit package to include health dental long-term disability insurance paid by the City Vision supplemental ltd optional life and other insurance options are also available for employees to fund Starting Salary for SC LE1 certified applicants is $60,047.27 including $3,422.36 for 11 paid holidays. Certification stipend bonuses are available for up to $14,250 annually for additional certifications possessed or obtained during employment i.e firefighter, EMS, Instructor, water rescue, DRE, etc. Overtime opportunities available upon completion of field training.
